SYSPRO helps foundry fire up for future success
A high-end foundry is firing up its manufacturing operation for future success with the help of UK SYSPRO ERP specialist K3.
K3 has won a contract to supply a fully integrated SYSPRO Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution to Chamberlin & Hill Castings. It will provide the management tools to give C&H Castings full visibility of its manufacturing operation, delivering a clear view of processes, procedures and costs.
The new system will replace C&H’s old enterprise resource planning system and manual spreadsheets.
“With the new SYSPRO ERP system we will get a much clearer view of our business to meet the group-wide target for improved access to management information. K3 has listened carefully to our requirements and is tailoring the new system to meet our needs. This will allow us to see and monitor every area of the business at the touch of a button. We’ll have much greater visibility from works order right through to finished product and dispatch,”
says Mark Hotchin, Financial Director, C&H Castings.
C&H Castings is part of the Chamberlin plc group of companies that specialises in complex iron castings and engineered products to a variety of industries worldwide. The company’s products are used by a wide range of customers requiring highly engineered solutions across a number of sectors including rail, defence, hydraulics, automotive and hazardous environments. Chamberlin embarked on a Group-wide review of its system requirements in 2007 and chose K3 to assist in this process.
K3 will configure C&H Castings SYSPRO system to focus on manufacturing and accounting. With SYSPRO in place the company will have even tighter control of its manufacturing process and costs.
“SYSPRO will provide visibility of all jobs within the system, allowing us to align our moulding and melting processes. This is extremely important as any misalignment can result in scrap metal. The new system will also deliver improved inventory management and a clear picture of the materials we require and when they are needed, to assist us with accurate product costing. As an additional benefit, we are expecting SYSPRO to help us expedite estimating and job costing,” concludes Mark Hotchin.
