K3 announces successful first quarter

K3 claims major first quarter 2009 successes
* Discrete manufacturing represents a large part of sales

UK SYSPRO ERP specialist K3 Business Technology Group (K3) has made a strong start to 2009 despite tough trading conditions. The company has landed important contract wins and additional solutions contracts with existing customers, indicating clearly that businesses value the need for robust computer systems to enable them to optimise their businesses in the current turbulent economic climate.

“In the first three months we have made some significant sales. Nine of these are to new customers with a total value of £1.2million. These are businesses who have recognised the value that SYSPRO can bring to their organisations – and we have been able to provide performance-boosting additions to our existing clients. This illustrates that despite the turn-down in the economy, people are recognising the need to invest in the latest systems to improve their current fortunes and set them up for further successes once the market recovers,” says Howard Joseph, Managing Director, K3 Business Technology Group.

A large percentage of K3’s first quarter successes are with discrete manufacturers, indicating that customers are recognising the utility of SYSPRO ERP for repetitive, customised, quick-turn and mixed-mode operations. The software enables discrete manufacturers to shrink the time to market from initial design through production and out of the factory gate, providing seamless integration with both financial and distribution modules. It also offers superior features for estimating, scheduling, costing, lot and serial tracking, as well as back-flushing, material verification, inventory optimisation and planning.

First quarter customers include Godwin Pumps (manufacturer and supplier of specialist self-priming pumps), CCL Labels (innovative premium package and promotional label solutions), Chamberlin & Hill Castings (automotive bearing housing manufacturer), Orthoplastics (high-performance medical plastics manufacturer), Medite (MDF manufacturer) and TFX Medical (medical devices manufacturer).

The majority of these customers also chose to use K3’s Network Infrastructure Solutions (NIS) to design, supply and implement their new SYSPRO systems. This shows that customers recognise that they will gain greater benefit from their new software investments when implemented with a carefully designed and balanced hardware set up. In addition, NIS will provide remote support to one of these new customers.

“Clearly, our customers are recognising that we not only provide software but that they can rely on K3 to design and implement a turnkey solution. For some we even take away the headache of running the system, allowing them to focus on their core business. This is more cost-effective for some as it means that we provide them with a fully outsourced IT capability and eliminates the need for on-site IT expertise – which is a major benefit when costs need to be managed carefully,” concludes Howard Joseph.
