Business processes streamlined for K3 customer

Initial Packaging Solutions streamlines business processes with fully integrated SYSPRO solution

Innovative packaging manufacturer Initial Packaging Solutions Ltd has implemented SYSPRO ERP from leading business software company K3 Business Technology Group (K3). Based in Widnes, in north west England, Initial Packaging Solutions has installed SYSPRO with advanced planning and scheduling to streamline its processes and gain total visibility of workflow and stockholding. SYSPRO is also enabling the company to monitor and investigate scrap levels at its printing contractors.

The fully integrated SYSPRO system is delivering accurate real time management information that has eradicated the company's outmoded Sage Line 100 package and its further reliance on numerous spreadsheets. Where the old system provided opportunities for problems to arise, SYSPRO now provides complete reliability and has optimised processes right across the business. This is of particular importance as Initial Packaging Solutions offers a wide range of products including polythene bags, state-of-the-art Tamper Evident security pouches, bespoke mailing envelopes, high volume mail order sacks and courier pouches.

"The integrated SYSPRO/Preactor system has streamlined our planning process. We no longer need to use spreadsheets, which were extremely cumbersome to manage and keep updated. We had to manually alter and update these constantly. By entering a job into SYSPRO we automatically feed the information into advanced planning and scheduling to give us complete visibility of our workflow and of course there is no chance of human error due to miskeyed data," says Lee Childs, Financial Controller, Initial Packaging Solutions.

"SYSPRO is a huge improvement on our old system as it allows us to manage our stock better. Everyone can access the system to see exactly what we hold on site and at our printers. It also allows us to highlight scrap levels and investigate what is causing it," he says.

Initial Packaging Solutions installed SYSPRO in November 2006 and is now extending the system to include the SYSPRO CRM module in December 2007 and Advanced Quality Management (AQM) in early 2008.

According to Lee Childs: "SYSPRO CRM will help us to improve customer service in general but it will also open up opportunities for marketing. The module will help us with our marketing activities such as targeted mailings and help us to manage our prospects better. We are also testing AQM so that we can be ready to implement this module next year. We anticipate that this will help us to improve our procedures going forward."
